Common elements for administrative partitions

You perform this task to create an administrative partition. An
administrative partition
 creates an access control boundary for users and applications.
  1. Access the BIG-IP Configuration utility.
  2. On the Main tab, expand
    System
     and click
    Users
    .
    The Users List screen opens.
  3. On the menu bar, click
    Partition List
    .
  4. Click
    Create
    .
    The New Partition screen opens.
  5. Type a description of the partition in the
    Description
     field.
    This field is optional.
  6. Click
    Finished
    .
  7. Click
    Update
    .
  8. In the
    Partition Name
     field, type a unique name for the partition.
    An example of a partition name is
    Spanned_VIP
    .
  9. In the
    Partition Name
     field, type a unique name for the partition.
    An example of a partition name is
    CustomerA_partition
    .
  10. In the Name column, click the relevant partition name.
  11. In the Name column, click a customer partition name.
  12. In the Name column, click the partition name that corresponds to the relevant high-level folder.
  13. Modify the values of the partition properties as needed.
  14. In the Name column, locate the name of the partition you want to delete, and to the left of the name, select the box.
  15. Press
    Delete
    .
    A confirmation message appears.
  16. Press
    Delete
    .
  17. In the upper-right corner of any the BIG-IP Configuration utility screen, locate the
    Partition
     list and select the name of the relevant customer-specific administrative partition.
    If the partition selections are unavailable, you do not have a user role that allows you to change the current partition.
    An example of a selected partition is
    CustomerA_partition
    .
    Whenever you select a partition name from the list, the current administrative partition changes to the selected partition.
  18. In the upper-right corner of any the BIG-IP Configuration utility screen, locate the
    Partition
     list and select the customer-specific administrative partition.
    If the partition selections are unavailable, you do not have a user role that allows you to change the current partition.
    An example of a selected partition is
    CustomerA_partition
    .
    Whenever you select a partition name from the list, the current administrative partition changes to the selected partition.
  19. In the upper-right corner of any the BIG-IP Configuration utility screen, locate the
    Partition
     list and ensure that partition
    Common
     is selected.
  20. For the
    Device Group
     setting, choose an action:
    Action
    Result
    Retain the default value.
    Choose this option if you want the folder corresponding to this partition to inherit the value of the device group attribute from folder
    root
    .
    Clear the check box and select the name of a device group.
    Choose this option if you do not want the folder corresponding to this partition to inherit the value of the device group attribute from folder
    root
    .
  21. For the
    Device Group
     setting, clear the
    Inherit device group from root folder
     check box and from the list, select the name of the Sync-Only device group.
  22. For the
    Traffic Group
     setting, choose an action:
    Action
    Result
    Retain the default value.
    Choose this option if you want the folder corresponding to this partition to inherit the value of the traffic group attribute from folder
    root
    .
    Clear the check box and select the name of a traffic group.
    Choose this option if you do not want the folder corresponding to this partition to inherit the value of the traffic group attribute from folder
    root
    .
  23. From the
    Traffic Group
     list, choose
    None
    .
  24. For the
    Device Group
     setting, ensure that the Sync-Failover device group containing this vCMP guest is selected.
  25. For the
    Traffic Group
     setting, retain the default value, which is the floating traffic group
    traffic-group-1
    .
    You will change this value later in the route domain implementation process.
  26. For the
    Device Group
     setting, clear the check box labeled
    Inherit device group from root folder
     and from the list, select the name of a device group.
  27. For the
    Traffic Group
     setting, clear the check box labeled
    Inherit traffic group from root folder
     and from the list, select the name of a traffic group.
  28. Find the
    Partition
     list in the upper right corner of the BIG-IP Configuration utility screen, to the left of the
    Log out
     button.
  29. From the
    Partition
     list, select the partition in which you want to create local traffic objects.
  30. From the
    Partition
     list, select the partition in which you want to create or manage objects.
  31. From the
    Partition
     list, pick partition
    Common
    .
  32. From the
    Partition
     list, make sure that partition
    Common
     is selected.
