Common elements for
administrative partitions
You perform this task to create an administrative partition. An
administrative partition
creates an access control boundary for users and applications.- Access the BIG-IP Configuration utility.
- On the Main tab, expandSystemand clickUsers.The Users List screen opens.
- On the menu bar, clickPartition List.
- ClickCreate.The New Partition screen opens.
- Type a description of the partition in theDescriptionfield.This field is optional.
- ClickFinished.
- ClickUpdate.
- In thePartition Namefield, type a unique name for the partition.An example of a partition name isSpanned_VIP.
- In thePartition Namefield, type a unique name for the partition.An example of a partition name isCustomerA_partition.
- In the Name column, click the relevant partition name.
- In the Name column, click a customer partition name.
- In the Name column, click the partition name that corresponds to the relevant high-level folder.
- Modify the values of the partition properties as needed.
- In the Name column, locate the name of the partition you want to delete, and to the left of the name, select the box.
- PressDelete.A confirmation message appears.
- PressDelete.
- In the upper-right corner of any the BIG-IP Configuration utility screen, locate thePartitionlist and select the name of the relevant customer-specific administrative partition.If the partition selections are unavailable, you do not have a user role that allows you to change the current partition.An example of a selected partition isCustomerA_partition.Whenever you select a partition name from the list, the current administrative partition changes to the selected partition.
- In the upper-right corner of any the BIG-IP Configuration utility screen, locate thePartitionlist and select the customer-specific administrative partition.If the partition selections are unavailable, you do not have a user role that allows you to change the current partition.An example of a selected partition isCustomerA_partition.Whenever you select a partition name from the list, the current administrative partition changes to the selected partition.
- In the upper-right corner of any the BIG-IP Configuration utility screen, locate thePartitionlist and ensure that partitionCommonis selected.
- For theDevice Groupsetting, choose an action:ActionResultRetain the default value.Choose this option if you want the folder corresponding to this partition to inherit the value of the device group attribute from folderroot.Clear the check box and select the name of a device group.Choose this option if you do not want the folder corresponding to this partition to inherit the value of the device group attribute from folderroot.
- For theDevice Groupsetting, clear theInherit device group from root foldercheck box and from the list, select the name of the Sync-Only device group.
- For theTraffic Groupsetting, choose an action:ActionResultRetain the default value.Choose this option if you want the folder corresponding to this partition to inherit the value of the traffic group attribute from folderroot.Clear the check box and select the name of a traffic group.Choose this option if you do not want the folder corresponding to this partition to inherit the value of the traffic group attribute from folderroot.
- From theTraffic Grouplist, chooseNone.
- For theDevice Groupsetting, ensure that the Sync-Failover device group containing this vCMP guest is selected.
- For theTraffic Groupsetting, retain the default value, which is the floating traffic grouptraffic-group-1.You will change this value later in the route domain implementation process.
- For theDevice Groupsetting, clear the check box labeledInherit device group from root folderand from the list, select the name of a device group.
- For theTraffic Groupsetting, clear the check box labeledInherit traffic group from root folderand from the list, select the name of a traffic group.
- Find thePartitionlist in the upper right corner of the BIG-IP Configuration utility screen, to the left of theLog outbutton.
- From thePartitionlist, select the partition in which you want to create local traffic objects.
- From thePartitionlist, select the partition in which you want to create or manage objects.
- From thePartitionlist, pick partitionCommon.
- From thePartitionlist, make sure that partitionCommonis selected.
