  5. Select the
    Synchronize
    check box.
  6. In the
    Time Tolerance
field, type the maximum age difference in seconds, between the sets of configuration files on the systems in a BIG-IP DNS configuration synchronization group.
  7. Select the
    Synchronize DNS Zone Files
    check box.
  8. In the
    Group Name
    field, accept the default value.
  9. In the
    Group Name
field, type the name of the synchronization group.
  10. In the
    Heartbeat Interval
field, type the frequency at which you want BIG-IP DNS to query other BIG-IP systems for updated data.
The default value is 10 seconds. When configuring monitors, ensure that the monitor
    Interval
setting is greater than this setting.
  11. The value of the
    Heartbeat Interval
indicates the frequency at which BIG-IP DNS queries other BIG-IP systems for updated data.
The default value is 10 seconds.
  12. For the Cache Local DNS Servers setting, select the
    Enabled
    check box.
  13. For the Drain Persistent Requests setting, select the
    Enabled
    check box.
  14. For the Auto-Discover setting, select the
    Enabled
    check box.
  15. For the Request Interval setting, type a value in the
    seconds
    field.
  16. In the
    Maximum Synchronous Monitor Requests
field, type the number of queries that resources can accept from monitors at any given time.
  17. Select the
    Monitor Disabled Objects
    check box.
  18. Select the

field, type the number of bits the system uses to identify IPv4 addresses for the Static Persist load balancing method.
  24. In the
    Static Persist CIDR (IPv6)
field, type the number of bits the system uses to identify IPv6 addresses for the Static Persist load balancing method.
  25. Select
    Depends on Monitors Only
    from the
    Virtual Server Status
    list.
  26. From the
    Domain Validation
list, select one of the following options.
    Option
    Description
    None
The system does not restrict the use of any characters in domain names.
    Strict
The system allows only a narrow interpretation of DNS names; that is, alphanumeric characters and the dash ( - ) character.
    Allow Underscores
The system follows the Strict validation rules, and also allows the underscore ( _ ) character.
  27. In the Configuration Save area, for the Automatic setting, clear the
    Enabled
check box to disable automatic saves of BIG-IP DNS configuration changes.
If you disable automatic saves of BIG-IP DNS configuration changes, to save those changes you must run this command from the command line:

    check box.
  29. In the Configuration Save area, for the
    Timeout

The values shown in the table are worth noting:
    Value in seconds
    Description
    0
BIG-IP DNS immediately saves changes to the configuration.
    86400
Maximum number of seconds following a BIG-IP DNS configuration change before the BIG-IP system saves the BIG-IP DNS configuration.
    15
Default number of seconds following a BIG-IP DNS configuration change before the BIG-IP system saves the BIG-IP DNS configuration.
    Setting the value of the
    Timeout
    field to less than
    10
    seconds can impact system performance.
  30. In the
    Key Creation Server
field, type the server name of the BIG-IP DNS system that you want to designate as the creator of new generations of DNSSEC keys. You must include the path and folder name in which the server resides, for example:
