Common Elements for VLAN Group tasks
VLAN groups consolidate Layer 2 traffic from two or
more separate VLANs.
- On the Main tab, click.The VLAN Groups list screen opens.
- On the Main tab, click.The VLAN List screen opens.
- From the VLAN Groups menu, choose List.
- ClickCreate.The New VLAN Group screen opens.
- In theNamefield, type a unique name for the VLAN group.
- In theNamefield, type the name of the first VLAN.For this example, typeisp1.
- In theNamefield, type the name of the first VLAN.For this example, typeisp2.
- In the General Properties area, in theVLAN Groupfield, type a unique name for the VLAN group.
- For theVLANssetting, use the Move button (<<) to move the VLANs that you want to include in the group from theAvailablelist to theMemberslist.
- For theVLANssetting, select the VLAN that connects to the non-VXLAN Layer-2 network and the VXLAN tunnel you created, and using the Move button (<<), move your selections from theAvailablelist to theMemberslist.
- For theVLANssetting, select the EtherIP tunnel that you created (which appears in the VLAN list) and the VLAN that connects to the host where the VMs exist, and using the Move button (<<), move your selections from theAvailablelist to theMemberslist.
- From theTransparency Modelist, selectOpaque.The transparency mode determines the level of exposure of remote MAC addresses within the VLAN group traffic.
- From theTransparency Modelist, selectTransparent.
- From theTransparency Modelist, select a transparency mode, or retain the default setting,Translucent.The transparency mode determines the level of exposure of remote MAC addresses within the VLAN group traffic.ModePurposeTransparentThe MAC addresses of remote systems are exposed in Layer 2 traffic forwarding.TranslucentSimilar toTransparentmode, except the locally-unique bit is set in the MAC addresses of remote systems.OpaqueThe system uses proxy ARP with Layer 3 forwarding, so the MAC addresses of remote systems are not exposed.
- Select theBridge All Trafficcheck box if you want the VLAN group to forward all frames, including non-IP traffic.The default setting is disabled (not selected).
- Select theBridge in Standbycheck box if you want the VLAN group to forward frames, even when the system is the standby unit of a redundant system.
- In theMAC Masqueradefield, type a MAC address.The format for MAC addresses is ab:cd:ef:11:22:33.
- For theInterfacessetting, from theAvailablelist, select1.1and click<<to move to theUntaggedlist.
- For theInterfacessetting, from theAvailablelist, select1.2and click<<to move to theUntaggedlist.
- For theInterfacessetting, from theAvailablelist, select1.3and click<<to move to theUntaggedlist.
- ClickFinished.
