Create an instant backup for BIG-IP VELOS or rSeries devices

There are a few things you must do before you create a backup for a VELOS or rSeries devices running BIG-IP version 17.1 or later.

Before you create a backup for a VELOS device, you must provide the username and password for the partitions on that device. You can verify that the username and password are specified for the partitions for the VELOS device you want to back up by navigating to F5OS > Platform / Devices screen and clicking on the name of the VELOS device you are creating a backup for.

Important: If there is no user name, password, or assigned IP address for the VELOS partitions, the back up fails.

Before you create a backup for an rSeries device, you must set the primary key. For more information, see article https://my.f5.com/manage/s/article/K47512994

Important: If you do not set the primary key before you back up, the backup fails.
