Substance Declarations

Restricted Substances at F5

All F5 products are European Union (EC) RoHS compliant (2011/65/EU, as amended in (EU) 2015/863). F5 operates a RoHS compliance program in line with EN 50581 and IEC 63000. Material declarations and certificates of compliance are gathered as part of this process.

Disclaimer

F5 conducts data-gathering from suppliers to determine the presence of REACH SVHCs and relies on those supplier declarations to provide this declaration. As such, some data may be missing or incomplete. This list is exhaustive given the information we have at the time of the date listed on this document. We continually work to gather complete, up-to-date data. REACH data-gathering is one component of the broader restricted substance management program at F5.

EU RoHS Exemptions Claimed

As of October 13, 2021
F5 products claim the following RoHS exemptions. This list is inclusive of the entire F5 product line. Not all exemptions may apply to every product. Product-specific information is available upon request.
  • 6(a)-1: Lead as an alloying element in steel for machining purposes containing up to 0.35% lead by weight and in batch hot dip galvanized steel components containing up to 0.2% lead by weight
  • 6(c): Copper alloy containing up to 4 % lead by weight.
  • 7(a): Lead in high melting temperature type solders (i.e. lead-based alloys containing 85 % by weight or more lead.
  • 7(c)-1: Electrical and electronic components containing lead in a glass or ceramic other than dielectric ceramic in capacitors, e.g., piezoelectric devices, or in a glass or ceramic matrix compound.
  • 15(a): Lead in solders to complete a viable electrical connection between the semiconductor die and carrier within integrated circuit flip chip packages where at least one of the following criteria applies:
    • a semiconductor technology node of 90 nm or larger.
    • a single die of 300 mm2 or larger in any semiconductor technology node.
    • stacked die packages with die of 300 mm2 or larger, or silicon interposers of 300 mm2 or larger.

REACH SVHC Declaration

As of October 13, 2021 (SVHC 219 List)
F5 hardware products are considered articles under the European Union Regulation (EC) 1907/2006 “Registration Evaluation, Authorization, and Restriction of Chemicals,” commonly referred to as REACH. Under the original (pre-2015) interpretation of the legislation, to the best of our knowledge F5 articles do not contain any SVHC substances above .1% article weight.
However, in 2015 a new court interpretation of the law shifted declaration of .1% w/w of the finished, imported article toward the “once an article, always an article” concept. The following SVHC-219 substances are above .1% w/w of a component within our product. This list is inclusive of the entire F5 product line.
Not all SVHCs may be present in every product. Product-specific information is available upon request. Please note that F5 relies on our suppliers for declarations to compile this list, and some data may be incomplete.
  • 1,2-dimethoxyethane; ethylene glycol dimethl ether (EGDME)
  • 1,3,5-triglycidyl-s-triazinetrione
  • Bisphenol A (BPA)
  • Diboron trioxide
  • Lead
  • N-Methylpyrrolidone
  • Lead titanium zirconium oxide
  • Hexahydromethylphthalic anhydride
  • Lead monoxide (lead oxide)

Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directive (RoHS) for China
