This maintenance release only for those customers who want the fixes and enhancements listed in Fixes and enhancements in this release. This maintenance release is cumulative, and includes all fixes and enhancements released since version 5.1. You can apply the software upgrade to 5.1 and later. For information about installing the software, please refer to WebAccelerator Getting Started Guide.

Fixes and enhancements in this release

This release includes the following fixes and enhancements.

PDF version 1.4 documents (CR65046)
The WebAccelerator system now properly handles PDF version 1.4 documents.

X-PvInfo response header value (CR65047)
The value for the X-PvInfo response header's S code, which under certain conditions was incorrectly displaying a value of 0, now displays the proper value.

Required configuration changes

After you install the WebAccelerator software, or any time you modify the pvsystem.conf file, you must stop and restart the PVAC process, by typing the following commands:

service pivia stop_pvac
service pivia start_pvac

Known issues

The following items are known issues in the current release. Maintenance release known issues are cumulative, and include all known issues for a release.

Changes to the global fragments XML file
The WebAccelerator system does not propagate, or push into production, changes that you make to the global fragments XML file from the command line. To work around this issue, see Propagating global fragments XML file changes in the Workaround for known issues section.

Documents with private cache control headers
The WebAccelerator system displays incorrect expiration dates for Microsoft® Word and Microsoft® Excel documents that have the cache control headers set to private. To work around this issue, see Correcting the expiration date for documents with private cache control headers in the Workaround for known issues section.

Workarounds for known issues

The following sections describe workarounds for the corresponding known issues listed in the previous section.

Propagating global fragments XML file changes

After you make changes to the global fragments XML file, perform the following procedure to push the changes to production.

To save changes to the global fragments XML file

  1. Log into the Administration Tool.

  2. On the toolbar, click Clusters.

  3. Click the Save button.

Correcting the expiration date for documents with private cache control headers

For the WebAccelerator system to display the proper expiration date for documents with private cache control headers, you must configure the system to ignore no-cache headers in responses.

To configure the WebAccelerator system to ignore no cache headers in responses

  1. Log into the Administration Tool.

  2. On the toolbar, click Policies.

    A list of policies displays.

  3. Next to the affected policy, click Edit.

    The Policy Editor screen opens.

  4. From the Request Type Hierarchy tree, expand Static and Documents.

  5. Select MS-Word from the Documents list.

  6. On the toolbar, click Lifetime.

    The content lifetime options display.

  7. Check the box next to Ignore no-cache HTTP headers in the response.

  8. Click the Save button.

  9. From the Documents list in the Request Type Hierarchy tree, select MS-Excel.

  10. On the toolbar, click Lifetime.

    The content lifetime options display.

  11. Check the box next to Ignore no-cache HTTP headers in the response.

  12. Click the Save button.
