Hourly Billing Instances


Instance registration-based hourly licensing has been released as part of 12.1.0 HF1-EHF1 (Version: 12.1.0, Build: 1.1.1447).

Installing BIG-IP v12.1.0 HF1 EHF1

Installation Steps

For this release, install the EHF software directly instead of performing the intermediate step of upgrading to the base version of the 12.1.0 software and then applying the EHF.

- From the downloads site, copy BIGIP-12.1.0.0.0.1434.iso to /shared/images/ on the BIG-IP system.
- From the downloads site, copy Hotfix-BIGIP-12.1.0.1.1.1447-HF1-EHF1.iso to /shared/images/ on the BIG-IP system.
- Run the following command:
tmsh install sys software hotfix Hotfix-BIGIP-12.1.0.1.1.1447-HF1-ENG.iso volume <volume-number>

Known issues

602596: Instance is not licensed automatically if license is lost or inoperative.

Component: Virtual Edition

Symptoms: Instance license does not work.

Conditions: This can happen for the following reasons: 1. Instance lost the license due to manual deletion of the license. 2. Instance license becomes inoperative after moving config without the no-license flag.

Impact: Instance license does not work and must be relicensed.

Workaround: The workaround depends on how the license was lost. If the license was manually deleted, run the following command to get a new license: /usr/libexec/autoLicense -l If the license became inoperative because the config was moved without the no-license flag, do the following to get a new license: 1. Delete /config/bigip.license. 2. Run this command: /usr/libexec/autoLicense -l.
