Upgrades for BIG-IP VE devices in an SSG

From BIG-IQ, you can quickly upgrade BIG-IP VE devices in an SSG. When you perform this process, BIG-IQ upgrades the BIG-IP virtual machines in the SSG using the software image identified in the environment specified for this SSG.

Upgrade BIG-IP VE devices in an AWS service scaling group

Before you can upgrade the VE devices in your service scaling group, you need to identify the Amazon machine image (AMI) from F5 that you want your SSG to use when it deploys BIG-IP virtual machines in your AWS cloud.

Upgrade the BIG-IP VE devices in your scaling service group, so they’re running the most recent version.

1. At the top of the screen, click Applications then, on the left, click ENVIRONMENTS > Cloud Environments.

2. Click the name of the AWS cloud environment that defines the details of the cloud in which your SSG resides.

   All of the settings for the cloud environment are displayed.

3. Scroll down to AMI Image and select the new AMI you want to use for the devices created in this environment.

   Note: For access to the BIG-IP image you must subscribe and agree to the software terms in AWS.

4. Click Save & Close.
