New Features in BIG-IQ Version 8.4.1
BIG-IQ 8.4.1 now provides full configuration management capabilities, including discovery, import, and deployment for BIG-IP TMOS v21.0.0 across all modules:
- LTM
- APM
- ASM
- AFM
- SSM
- DNS
- SSLO
The SSL Orchestrator (SSLO) modules have been enhanced to support versions up to v13.0 when using BIG-IQ 8.4.1:
- SSL Orchestrator v12.1 is supported with BIG-IP v17.5.1
- SSL Orchestrator v12.2 is supported with BIG-IP v17.5.1.3
- SSL Orchestrator v13.0 is supported with BIG-IP v21.0.0
Note: As part of this release, the BIG-IQ system TMOS has been upgraded to version 17.5.1.2, ensuring enhanced stability and security updates.
BIG-IQ now provides centralised management of Model Context Protocol (MCP) profiles, enabling administrators to create, edit, deploy, and monitor MCP configurations across multiple BIG-IP devices from a single interface. This enhancement supports MCP traffic handling through JSON and Server-Sent Events (SSE) profiles, improves visibility and consistency, and enables advanced traffic inspection, optimisation, and programmability. Centralised MCP profile management simplifies operations, reduces configuration errors, and ensures reliable, scalable handling of AI-driven MCP communications on BIG-IP.
BIG-IQ now offers comprehensive management for the entire certificate chain lifecycle of certificates imported from Venafi providers. This includes the identification and storage of complete certificate chains (Leaf → Intermediate → Root). This enhancement allows for the proper renewal and Certificate Signing Request (CSR) generation for Venafi-managed certificate chains. BIG-IQ now retains chain metadata using a new internal flag, provides user interface support for renewal and CSR operations on these chains, and ensures accurate deployment and SSL validation on BIG-IP devices.
